I didn’t start writing because I thought I was a writer. I had fifty pen pals. I wrote stories when teachers ask for book reports. I replayed conversations in my head, editing the dialogue. But I didn’t call it writing. I didn’t know what it was.
That happens to a lot of people — especially the ones who write all the time in their head. They feel like they’re faking it. Or they think they’re too disorganized, too inconsistent, too late.
What changed everything for me was having structure: An editor who could tell me if what I was writing was working. A group of people who were paying attention. An external rhythm that kept me going on bad writing days.
So that’s what I’ve built for you. Because it worked for me.
Here’s what you’ll get:
1) Unlimited edits
You can send me anything you write during the year — drafts, snippets, pieces that don’t have an end — or a middle. I’ll give you edits that make your writing stronger without changing who you are.
2) Personal support
If you get stuck, you don’t have to stay there. The group is ten people, and my investment in each person is to keep you writing. You can call or email me anytime. I’ve been stuck a million times. So it doesn’t surprise me when writers are stuck; it surprises me when writers don’t build a system that lets them ask for help. This is that system.
3) Weekly live group sessions.
We meet once a week to talk about writing — structure, technique, voice, clarity. Over time, you’ll get to know each other’s work and watch it evolve. That kind of consistency builds real connection and the connection strengthens your commitment to your own writing.
4) Progress check-ins every twelve weeks.
Every twelve weeks, we pause to look at what you’ve written to see what’s shifting and what’s consistent. As your writing evolves, your goals might too. Even if you’re not goal-oriented, I am. I’ll help you set goals that make your writing feel purposeful — not overwhelming.
5) Clarity about what kind of writer you are.
You don’t have to know your genre to join. You and I can discuss your writing and your strengths, and we can consider a range of formats — essay, op-ed, memoir, cultural critique, narrative nonfiction, flash fiction, hybrid forms. You and I will figure out the place where your voice and your perspective shine most brightly.
The group is limited to 10 people. Six are returning, so there are four spots open. The cost is $1795 for the year. You can sign up here.
