Penny, I find that caring too much is a prescription for disaster when helping your own kids and really anyone you truly love. I personally see all the ways they can fail and be scarred by that failure, and I desperately want to prevent it. This makes me opinionated and unpleasant to be around and therefore not someone my family wants to ask for help. There is also my ego, but that's another story, I can control that... sometimes.
Reign in the caring and treat the ones you love like strangers who you do not want to control, and all will be well...
I think kids are always growing up and changing. And so are we. So it's really hard to develop a feeling of expertise because the measure is always moving. I do think being an F helps.
There was a Science Friday episode on this just today. I kept thinking, who is training who? Like at work I have trained my searches to hone in on the specific information I am looking for so I don’t have to go down some bs theoretical rabbit hole. At home I search for such diverse information I have lots of wading. But that is the way I want it, diverse resources so I don’t find myself in a silo. One item in the program I found interesting was AI can turn on you. The AI advocate fan said you can train around that. But I thought wow, these people are using AI for companionship and it turns on them for no reason? What are the odds this person is going to train their AI companion out of it? I mean, what a blow. So AI is predatory, interesting. I love the bit that you only do not want a narrative if someone is talking to you. I can relate. 1000 resumes, in my day and I am older than you, that is why I fell in love with database programs. What is the answer to the question I have been reading that HR folks are asking-“did you write this resume yourself?”

Good luck successfully doing the above.

Yes, I agree. It's a work in progress for me.
Yes to every word
In a world of AI and 1,000 applications- relationships and phone calls stand out.
It’s late for LinkedIn that starts freshman year.
Good luck!
Every time I allow myself to think life will be easier when my kids grow up, you come and burst my bubble.
At least I'm an F...
