Penny, To look the other way in the face of injustice, is to be complicit in it. Your gift is in being able to take complicated situations and articulate them for the rest of us. We may agree with you or we may disagree with you but your writing skills make for clarity. This is how you make a difference. Kudos to you.
Go watch the Amazon Prime documentary "A Body in the Snow: The Trial of Karen Read." It will blow your mind. Even if you think she might have hit him because she was drunk and little, let's say "high strung," when you see how little ACTUAL evidence there is to support the accident even happening, let alone charging her with murder 2, it's shameful. I thought "beyond a reasonable doubt" was still a thing.
Let's hope that more people show up for June 14's "No Kings" protests throughout the country. There are more than 1,800 protests planned. It may not seem like a lot, but it's a start. You're right: Standing up to power and corruption is hard, but I hope and pray that more people do it.

How is this the first time I've heard this story? It's so insane!

I watched it and not even all the subsequent evidence recounted here was included. I thought she was framed by the cop that killed him.
I watched it too. I liked seeing her talk. During the trial she doesn't talk, and she is really careful to never be caught showing expression.
I have not read the book but I definitely think she was behind the worst of the FB algorithm fuck over .
I recently read the Sarah Wynn-Williams’ book "Careless People" too.
I wondered how safe was she in doing so?
The stories she told about Sheryl Sandberg were mindboggling!
I know. Too many whistleblowers end up "killing themselves." Terrifying.

Thank you for writing, and for speaking your Truth to Power!!!
